I would like to Thank each and every one of you for your continued support and engagement in the CERT arena. Without your continued enthusiasm and desire to build our nations resiliency, we would surely be in a world of hurt. Although we have not had a catastrophic event for some time, we shall continue to forge new paths and networks to increase our neighborhood, community, and our public and private-sector partnerships on our climb to readiness!!!

Heavy Rains, Wind and Debris Flow
Busy day in Los Angeles today. We have activated the CERT Callout team and are currently helping to relieve several Fire Resources on wires down. We are based out of FS 83 in Encino. Our volunteers are fantastic. How many folks do you know who would come out in the rain to sit and wait for DWP or LAPD?
Thank you to all!!
Update from Japan
Two Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams from Los Angeles and Fairfax Counties have arrived in the town of Ofunato; teams are currently conducting search and rescue operations. The Department of Defense (DOD) has identified a high-pressure water pumping truck in response to the Japanese Prime Minister’s request to assist with cooling the reactors.
Future: The Department of Homeland Security National Operations Center will continue to monitor this event. The next scheduled update report will be published at 0600 EDT, 15 Mar.
CERT Refresher March, 2011
Amazing!! You all did a great job during this refresher. I was extremely pleased with our turnout and that we were honored by the presence of some of our well-respected Chiefs.
I hope that everyone who attended this event thought that it was of value and that you learned something that maybe you had forgotten.
Thank you for making my position so fulfilling.

CERT Helping the Citizens
Hello to all the Green People!!!
Once again, LAFD CERT is continuing to come up with new and innovative ways to spread the word of preparedness. With the assistance of Battalion 18 Coordinator, Larry Bogatz, we are planning on positioning ourselves around the City of Los Angeles on the evening of October 20, 2010, between the hours of 1800-2200. We will be handing out materials and attempting to motivate people to take part in the Great Shake Out of Oct. 21, 2010 @ 1021!!!
