we have been very sucessful in our rural area teaching our CERT team members emergency traffic control. This skill is very helpful to our fire and law enforcement personnel during many local emergancies including wildfires, local flooding, mudslides, and search and rescue operations. We have been very fortunate to be able to utalize the training officer for our state transportation dept. to teach this valuable training. All the other emergency services agencies are very grateful as this frees up personnel from those agencies to do the jobs they were trained to do.  We have also found that many of our CERT volunteers have gone on to take flagger certification classes so in the event of a major emergency the county and state have this added resource to draw from.
