Emergency Ops Support at College Game

On Saturday, Sept 2, the University of Washington's UW-CERT (Campus Emergency Response Team) was able to assist UW Police and other emergency responders with all of the emergencies and aid calls that go on, behind the scenes, at a major University football game. Due to the Holiday weekend, there was a low turn-out of volunteers from the UW-CERT team, but the efforts of those who did participate were well-received. The requests for assistance included various first aid calls, where CERT assisted medics. Additionally, there were wheel-chair escorts, logistical support for the medics and emergency vehicle escorts/emergency scene security where CERT assisted UW Police. The extra help was appreciated by the professional first responders. The venue provided an excellent way for UW-CERT to get real-world experience in a semi-controlled environment. UW-CERT team members all said they had a good time and can't wait to do it again. UW-CERT are schedule to support all six of the home Husky Games this season.
