Battalion 17 Information

Battalion 17 encompasses 47 square miles in the southwest San Fernando Valley, and services the cities of Canoga Park, Reseda, Tarzana, Woodland Hills, Warner Center, West Hills, Winnetka, and the area of Bell Canyon.

There are seven Fire Stations staffed with 65 Firefighters on any given day, of which 16 are Paramedics.

Resources are: 7 Engine Companies, 4 Trucks(Light Force), 1 BLS Ambulance, 6 Paramedic Rescue Ambulances, 1 Brush Patrol, 1 Battalion Command Team(located at 84's), and 1 EMS Captain(also at 84's).

Within our boundaries are Kaiser Hospital (Woodland Hills), Columbia West Hills Medical Center(West Hills), and Encino Tarzana Regional Medical Center(Tarzana).

The new, state of the art Fire Station #84 in Woodland Hills/Warner Center was recently put into service on a large piece of property adjacent to Kaiser Hospital. Population density in this area is growing at a rapid rate as a result of numerous apartment and condominium projects, and this Station was put to the test early contributing to the successful containment of a major emergency structure fire at a 191-unit complex under construction here.
