Battalion 10 is comprised of a unique aggregation of communities, business activities, and topography. Battalion 10 (B-10) is located in the central portion of the San Fernando Valley and is roughly divided into quarters by the 405 and 101 Freeways. These Freeways are critical transportation corridors for commerce and emergency response.

The northern half of B-10 covers relatively flat terrain over the Valley floor and is comprised of a mixture of single-family homes, apartment buildings, and light and heavy industrial use areas. This area also contains the Van Nuys Airport, Budweiser Brewery, the Sepulveda (flood control & retention) Basin and recreation area, a government center that contains the Van Nuys City Hall, City and County courthouses, Federal buildings, a Police Station, the L.A.F.D. Division 3 Headquarters at 39's, and the L.A.F.D. Disaster Preparedness Unit, USAR mobilization cache, and helipad at 88's. L.A.F.D. firefighters that are specially trained and equipped for aircraft fires and rescue reside at Fire Station 90. This area also contains several trauma hospitals and the Sherman Oaks Burn Center.

The southern half of B-10 transitions from the Valley floor into the foothills, and then progresses into steep hills. The hilly regions are thick in natural vegetation and are at high-risk for brushfires with difficult ingress and egress for Fire Department resources. The foothill area is a mix of commercial stores, apartment buildings and single-family residences. The hilly areas are predominantly single-family residences.

Battalion 10 Fire Stations: 39, 81, 83, 88, 90, 99, 100, 109, 114

The Battalion 10 Coordinator is Steven Weinberger
