LATEST INFORMATION:
- Yes, we know it's St. Patrick's Day. What better time to wear green?
- We'll be practicing shelter operations and animal first aid.
- Bring your tent, your stove, your emergency food, your generator and your dog (with carrier and muzzle)
- We'll be setting up tents, cooking dinner, and learning pet first aid.
- CERT will be exercising and training their radio communication skills at the March 17th Night Drill. We recommend that everyone purchase or acquire a FRS/GMRS radio before attending the drill. If you don't already own a radio, we would like to discourage FRS-only radios. FRS is much shorter range and will be very crowded in any disaster. Find out more about FRS & GMRS.
These radios are inexpensive and available at all electronic, Radio Shack, COSTCO, general merchandise department stores, etc.No license is required for the FRS radio channels. For GMRS there is an $80 (NO TEST) FCC license that is required to use the GMRS channels for non-emergency uses.If possible, members are encouraged to acquire the FCC GMRS License. If you don't have an FRS or FRS/GMRS radio, this will be a excellent time to learn how we can use them.
- Dress warm. We're having the drill rain or shine!
