HEARTVILLE, IL
Illinois Search and Rescue (ISAR) hosted a CERT class in Heartville starting 24 February 2002. The class was our first one. We worked with Effingham ESDA (Emergency Services and Disaster Agency) who provided the building and some instructors. We also had a firefighter who came in to teach the fire session and who is also a member of ISAR.

MAINE TOWNSHIP, IL  (COOK COUNTY)

CERT Program began in January of 2004. Since that time, we have trained 119 residents/youth. These include members of the N.W. Suburban Council of the Boy Scouts. Program has one of the most aggressive recruiting and training programs in the state. Recent activity has included a mobilization to the town of Utica, Illinois on April 24, 2004 which had been struck by an F3 tornado. The storm damaged nearly 80% of all of the structures in this town of 1000. Seventeen members from the trained CERT Teams of Maine Township teamed up with 3 members from the Palatine, IL CERT team to provide additional assistance in the recovery effort.
