Make sure your family has a plan for a disaster. Have it serve as a guide for each of your family members. Include in it how each will get in contact with the others, where each will go -
including backup plans - and what each will do in an emergency. Keep a copy of this plan in your disaster supply kit and another safe place where you can access it in the event of a disaster.

| Putting Down Roots In Earthquake Country
This popular 32-page earthquake science and preparedness handbook was first published in 1995 by the Southern California Earthquake Center. SCEC and the Earthquake Country Alliance now update the handbook yearly, and it is now available in both English and Spanish. The handbook features current scientific understanding of when and where earthquakes will occur in Southern California, how the ground will shake as a result, and the Seven Steps to Earthquake Safety. Putting Down Roots in Earthquake Country can be read online, downloaded or you can request free copies. It is available in English and Spanish. |
