Division Call-Out Teams and REDY Team |
![]() |
To give more CERT graduates an opportunity to participate on call-out teams and to provide faster response when CERT is requested by the Fire Department, the current Battalion Call-Out Teams are being re-configured into Division Teams and one Rapid and Early Deployment (REDY) Team* is being established.
Division Call-Out Teams will give more people an opportunity to participate, especially those in battalions that have few call-outs.
The Division Call-out Teams will have AM and PM teams, as the Battalion Call-Out Teams did. If you are currently on Battalion Call-Out Teams for:
- Battalions 1, 2, 5, 7, 9 or 11 you will probably become a Division 1 Call-Out Team Member.
- Battalions 3, 4, 6, 13 or 18 you will probably become a Division 2 Call-Out Member.
- Battalions 10, 12, 14, 15 or 17 you will probably become a Division 3 Call-Out Member.
- Division Call-Out Team Members can only sign up for one Division for the AM and one Division for the PM.
Call-outs will now be activated through an automated system. In an Emergency Call-Out, Chiefs will request CERT resources through OCD (LAFD dispatch) or the CERT Unit Captain. The REDY Team will be immediately activated, and a Division Team will be activated. More Division Team Members may be activated as the incident progresses.
For non-emergency call-outs, such as fire patrols, Division Teams will be activated.
For public events (marathons, parades, drills or other situations with ample "lead time"), the request would be made through email from the CERT-LA website.
All REDY Team Members and Division Call-Out Team Members must submit the required paperwork.
All Division Call-Out Team Members must sign up online. All current Battalion Call-Out Team Members must sign up as Division Call-Out Team Members for the new system.
*The REDY Team will be an immediately available Fire Department resource comprised of up to thirty CERT members who have been identified as being 100% sure they will be available 80% of the time to respond to an emergency anywhere in the City. REDY Team members:
- shall have shown a consistent pattern of participation and commitment to the CERT program, to include regular involvement in Refreshers, Quarterly Division Trainings, CERT Community Meetings, and previous Call-Outs.
- participation on a Division Call-Out Team (or a Battalion Call-Out Team) shall be a prerequisite to being authorized by the CERT Unit to join the REDY Team.
