CERT Los Angeles

Once again, CERT volunteers played an important role in the success of the Los Angeles Marathon. The feedback from the LAFD Chiefs and other officers as very positive and complimentary. One Chief said that when he looked down on the finish line he was impressed by the constant attention given to the runners by the CERT volunteers.

The Los Angeles Fire Department, the City of Los Angeles and I thank you for your continued support of the CERT program and for a job well done.

In order to make the call-out system more equitable, we have omitted the Division Call-Out Teams and the REDY Team. There is one Call-Out Team for the City. This will give everyone equal opportunity to respond.

CERT members will not self-dispatch to any incident. LAFD ALERT Messages (email, Twitter, radio etc.) are not official instructions or authorization to take action.

CERT Call-Out Team members responded to the site of the Chatsworth Train Accident on Friday, September 12.

Each Call-Out Team member shall:

1. have a LAFD CERT ID card

2. have a DSW call-out sticker on the back of their ID

3. been sworn in as a Disaster Service Worker with the LAFD CERT Unit

4. attend at least two Quarterly Division Trainings per year

You can be sworn in as a Disaster Service Worker and get your DSW call-out sticker at any Quarterly Division Training.

Effective 04/01/08: Each Call-Out Team member shall:

1. have a LAFD CERT ID card


2. have a DSW call-out sticker on the back of their ID


3. been sworn in as a Disaster Service Worker with the LAFD CERT Unit
