Greetings to All. Having been with the L.A. CERT program for the past 15 years now, I have seen the program grow. In the past I have been 1 of the  Batt. Coordinators and the past year have become a Division Coordinator,for one of three Divisions. I oversee 5 Battalions in the San Fernando Valley, approx. 345 sq. miles, approx. 2 million people, and only 37 fire stations.  
 
Keeping a high profile in the community, doing public fairs/events helps with establishing a relationship with the City Councilpersons' offices. In fact, a couple of the Field Deputys for the Councilmembers are taking the CERT class as a result. Being "CONSISTENT" is mandatory and having your team members/peers doing the same seems to work. It's that personal face-to-face recognition that makes the difference. Be safe to one and all. Keep up the good work that you do.
