I know that this a CERT Forum but this question has come up and I would like everyone's views on it:  Does anyone have experience with CERT and Fire Corps working together?  On the surface it looks like they could be a good match but I'm not so sure about it in the long run.  From what I can tell CERT is a response unit as Fire Corps is more of a support unit.   If anyone has any experience with this I would greatly appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experiences.
 
Also, food for thought:  CERT here is run by our Emergency Management Agency.  In the past they have frowned upon volunteer firefighters, police, and other emergency responders from taking CERT.  I have recently been offering this training to these responders and have had great success.  I thought I would have run into a lot of "I already know this stuff", but I haven't heard that at all.  I don't allow more than 20% of the class to be made of "professional responders" to ensure that we still reach our core audience:  our regular citizens.  The responders have approached it with the mindset that they may not be at work, at the station, or even in the local area when a disaster happens.  This training provides them with the tools they need when they may not have the rescue truck, ambulance, or other equipment at their disposal.  An added bonus is that they can go back to their respective organizations and act as "liaisons" for CERT.
